Autumn updates from my studio!

After a successful show and sale at the Lake Country ArtWalk (I sold 6 paintings!) in September, I thought I might have a bit of downtime to tidy up my studio and collect my thoughts, but happily, artist Shannon Wilson invited me to be part of The Red Barn Artisan Market! This will be my second year at the Red Barn Market, and I'm so looking forward to being a part of it again. Shannon is incredibly thoughtful about the vendors she curates for this wonderful annual event. The market takes place on Saturday, October 22 from 9AM to 4PM at 4409 Lakeshore Road. If you are in the Kelowna area, grab a coffee and come by to check out some of my completely new, affordable mixed media works! Plus, lots of other cool local art - it's a great place to get an early start on your holiday shopping!

I had a great time at the Lake Country ArtWalk!

I'm also excited to be getting ready for my second showing at the Lake Country Art Gallery's biggest show of the year, their fun Under 100 exhibition, running from November 19 to December 21! The Under 100 exhibition is comprised of small, original artworks by Okanagan artists, all for sale for under $100, $200 & $300. It's a great chance to grow your art collection with affordable, original pieces. Even better, the proceeds from the sale go to both the artists and to supporting the Lake Country Art Gallery. There‚Äôs a funky coffee shop attached to the gallery, so grab some friends, get cranked up on coffee and take in the art.

I am also teaching two workshops in November at the beautiful Leap Art Supplies & Gallery in Vernon. In this all new workshop, entitled Mixed Media Mash Up, I'll be guiding participants through a variety of exploratory techniques & media, including image transfer, quick collage, drips and pours, altered faces with magazine images, texture materials, & painting/mark making on a gessoed magazine paper canvas. We will work on a stretched canvas to work up an interesting background. Then, will insert or integrate words or text that inspire! You never what kind of surprises I'll have in store. If you're hoping to get in on the Mixed Media Mash Up, the November 26 workshop sold out in a week! Luckily, Leap's lovely owner Melissa Dinwoodie added a second class due to popular demand, so be sure to secure your spot by giving the gallery a call 250-545-0403.

I also recently joined ARTSCO, The Arts Council of the Central Okanagan, and was juried in to a very innovative show called The Downtown Gallery. The Downtown Gallery concept pairs local artists with downtown businesses to adorn their storefronts. Next time you're strolling through downtown Kelowna, keep an eye out for beautiful, original art in the windows of boutiques including Okanagan SpiritsFunktionalMilkcrate RecordsModern AccentsOlive and Elle, and my pieces which are proudly displayed at Inspired Eyes

My work, Pomegranates and Chinese Lanterns, sold from Village Arts this month!

My work, Pomegranates and Chinese Lanterns, sold from Village Arts this month!

In other news, I had a large still life entitled Pomegranates and Chinese Lanterns go to a good home, from Village Arts in Invermere, BC and two of my Love Nest pieces sold out of Leap. Back in the studio, my latest mad scientist meets artist efforts involve creating a cauldron of the perfect faux encaustic concoction!

Finally, it was an honour to be a featured artist by the Alberta Society of Artists, thanks ASA!

Thanks for checking in, I hope to see you out and about at my art events in the Okanagan in October and November!
